Hot and Sour Soup

Veg. Hot and Sour Soup Recipe – Hot and sour soup" is a Chinese soup. This recipe is one of the most popular Indian-Chinese recipes. It is spicy, sour and hot in terms of flavors.


Corn flour/Rice flour – 2 tbsp. - Buy Now
Oil – 1 tbsp. - Buy Now
Onion chopped – ¼ cup- Buy Now
Ginger chopped – 1 tsp- Buy Now
Garlic chopped – 1 tsp- Buy Now
Green chili chopped – 2 tbsp. - Buy Now
Soy sauce – 1 ½ tbsp. - Buy Now
Chili sauce – 1 tbsp. - Buy Now
Salt – as per your taste- Buy Now
Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp- Buy Now
White vinegar – ½ tsp
Water or vegetable stock – 2 cups
Green beans chopped – ¼ cup
Carrot chopped – 2 tbsp.
Mushroom chopped – ½ cup
Cabbage chopped – ¼ cup
Spring onion – ¼ cup


Step-1: First, make thin paste of corn flour and keep it aside.

Step-2: Heat 2 tbsp. oil in a deep frying pan. Add chopped ginger, garlic, onions and mix well. Sauté this mixture until onions become soft and transparent.

Step-3: Now add rest of the vegies, mix well and sauté them for 2 minutes on low flame.

Step-4: Add 2 cups of vegetable stock or water, 1 ½ tbsp. soya sauce, 1 tbsp. chili sauce and mix them well. Cook this mixture for further 2 minutes.

Step-5: Pour corn flour paste into the soup and mix well.

Step-6: Then add salt as per the taste, ¼ tsp pepper powder, mix well and simmer till soup is thick. This process may take 5 to 6 minutes.

Step-7: Once the soup is thick, add ½ tsp vinegar, and stir well.

Step-8: Hot & Sour soup is ready to serve. Transfer it to a bowl and garnish it with some spring onion while serving.
